Use of the Service
This is a service provided free of charge for members (under Section 12 Austrian Students' Union Act 2014 [HSG]) of the Austrian Students' Union (ÖH) at the St. Pölten UAS. This web application is provided by the Austrian Students' Union at St. Pölten UAS. There is no legal entitlement to the availability of this service. The report provided through PlagAware is intended as assistance but does not have the quality of an expert opinion or a report document. Users accept that the audit report will be provided in the form of an individual link to PlagAware.
The Austrian Students' Union (ÖH) at St. Pölten UAS assumes fair-use principles, whereby the number of pages that can be examined by students within a certain period, and the time between two plagiarism checks are limited.
Users acknowledge that the classification provided by PlagAware may differ from the assessment given by the software (Docol©c) used by St. Pölten UAS. Users further acknowledge that assessment reports provided by the software are always intended as assistance for human interpretation rather than an expert opinion or complete plagiarism assessment. Users also acknowledge that this type of software always comes with limitations, including all passages that cannot be interpreted by a machine as text (such as images, graphics, or paths).
The Austrian Students' Union (ÖH) at St. Pölten UAS is a public-law corporation under the Austrian Students' Union Act 2014 [HSG]. The bodies of the Austrian Students' Union (ÖH) at St. Pölten UAS carry out their activities voluntarily. We bring to your attention that this service is exclusively available to members of the Austrian Students' Union (ÖH) at St. Pölten UAS because each Students' Union, represents the interests of its members only (students and continued education students of St. Pölten UAS) as stated in Section 17 of the Austrian Students' Union Act 2014 [HSG]. We check the membership of the Austrian Students' Union (ÖH) at St. Pölten UAS with the register provided to us through the Austrian Students' Union Act 2014 [HSG] Section 13 Subparagraph 4. We point out that this provided register only contains students who paid the Austrian Students' Union's dues under the Austrian Students' Union Act 2014 [HSG] 38 Subparagraph 2. Since this register is only provided to the Austrian Students' Union (ÖH) at St. Pölten UAS after application students can assume that the data is rarely updated.

Plagiarism assessment by PlagAware
This web application utilizes PlagAware to create plagiarism assessment reports while St. Pölten UAS is currently using Docol©c. Therefore, at this point in time, considering the examination process as a publication it is out of the question. On this topic, we refer to the question Will the uploaded test texts and library texts be made available to third parties?
of the questions and answers section of PlagAware with the respective answer of No, all texts are accessible only from your personal PlagAware user account. Note: Reports that you share via a static link can be opened without logging in to PlagAware. Also, library texts are available to all users of the same license key. For more details, see Privacy.
.
Assessment reports are publicly available on PlagAware's website to everyone who has access to the report's unique link. Therefore, we strongly advise students not to publish the links to their check results.
To fulfill the purpose of this web service it is necessary for us to upload the provided documents to PlagAware for processing.
We selected PlagAware based on its capabilities (see https://doi.org/10.1186/s41239-020-00192-4)

We are proud to serve all resources (example given: bootstrap framework including JavaScript-files and CascadingStyleSheets) necessary for the correct display of the web application from our own servers without users needing to establish connections to any other parties.
The web application stores the uploaded documents only temporarily for submission to PlagAware. All documents are deleted after being uploaded to PlagAware to comply with the principle of data minimization.
In order to function correctly this web application needs sessions. Therefore, we use session cookies. These session cookies hold only the strictly necessary information for session handling. We like to point out that these first party session cookies do not require us to obtain consent (see https://gdpr.eu/cookies/).
We also affirm our legitimate interest in detecting attacks and usage patterns of this web application. Therfore, we log accesses on the server. In compliance with data minimization principles we nullify the used IP address. Furthermore, we log the access time, accessed resource, aswell as the label provided by the browser (called user agent). These user agent contains general information about the operation system and version of the browser in use. We need to point out, that this information can easily be manipulated and usually is insufficient for any form of identification of a person. The user agent is still helpful in detection malicious behaviour, therefore we state legitimate interest in processing this information.
This website including the associated database are operated and located within the St. Pölten UAS.
password security
We enforce some minimum requirements on password complexity. On the technical side, we use Argon2-ID for storing the hashes, and randmoize the password one year after the user has been pre-registered to minimize damages in case of a data breach.
